Shocking injury record, Messi’s stance and more: Making sense of Ousmane Dembele’s future in 6 sentences

There have been contradicting reports on the French winger’s future nowadays. Tribuna.com explain what could happen to the 22-year-old.

Is he for sale or not? Barcelona are planning a massive exodus this summer with Dembele tipped to be swapped for either Lautaro or Neymar.

Who could be interested: Several Premier League giants, including Manchester United, Arsenal and Liverpool, are keeping tabs on Dembele.

Potential transfer fee: Barca have reportedly put a hefty €60m price tag which is deemed unaffordable even for the interested parties.

Messi’s rumoured stance: The Athletic claimed that Leo wants Barca to sell Dembele but to keep ‘another expensive recruit’ Coutinho instead.

Injury record: The winger has played just 47% of all Barcelona games following his transfer due to a total of nine injuries.

Coach’s viewpoint: Before Dembele’s latest injury, Quique Setien confessed he was ‘in tears’ when he saw how the 22-year-old was training.

Ousmane Dembele was bought as an emergency signing after Neymar’s transfer to Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. He cost the club €125m, including the add-ons.

However, the winger has played only 74 of the possible 156 matches. In total, he has managed 19 goals and 17 assists.

Dembele couldn’t be happy with the 2019-2020 campaign. This term, he has only made NINE appearances because of a series of injuries. The Frenchman sustained a hamstring tear in early February which ruled him out for six months.
